Meditations (1/3)


Like many people I have been confronting issues to related to
depression and insomnia. Both aren't strangers to me at all but the collapse of summer this year has hit me harder than in the past and I've developed the fairly sinister habit of scratching into my arms. This behaviour is subconscious and usually don't realise I'm doing it until the damage is done.

In an aid to relieve this I have been practicing what Pauline Oliveros describes as 'Deep Listening' and using this practice to experience music as meditation. I set my equipment up in a small room, in low light, and record everything into a four-track cassette machine. I play until the tape runs out.

I found it did me some good and hopefully it might help you too.

This is the result of the first session.
